Is AI Generated Content Ruining LinkedIn?

On LinkedIn, AI-generated posts accompanied by AI-generated images are more common than ever. But is that necessarily a bad thing?

. . .

AI is everywhere. From drafting emails to writing entire essays, it’s the multitasking assistant we never knew we needed. On LinkedIn, it’s become the quiet ghostwriter of motivational posts, thought-leadership articles, and those oddly worded “personal” success stories. You know, the ones where every sentence feels suspiciously perfect like it was written by someone with a book of 10 million synonyms.

Artificial and Not Intelligent

There’s something… off about AI-generated content. Maybe it’s the lack of soul, the overly polished not to mention rigid structure. However, someone with decent writing experience can often sense some inauthenticity in AI-generated posts. By way of evidence, take a look at this Reddit thread where users discussed “words AI is obsessed with”. In the thread, users identified words like “tapestry”, “craft”, “unleash”, and “elevate” are often over-used by AI when generating marketing copy. Your average AI-generated LinkedIn post most of the time also contains such words. This kind of repetitiveness (or rather using the same kind of exposition for different types of articles) is what makes AI writing a bit cringe to read.

Another argument against AI is that it's making us lazy. Content creators on LinkedIn aren’t “creating” content anymore, they would just type prompts and let the AI do the thinking for them. Even if their idea for content is original, the fact that they’re relying on AI to express their ideas doesn’t bode well for their intellectual trajectory.

But Wait, It’s Not All Bad…

Before we throw AI content under the bus, let’s admit that it has its perks. Not everyone has the time, energy, or (let’s face it) talent to write a killer post. AI can help busy professionals produce readable, even impactful, content in minutes.

Need to update your followers about your latest project but don’t know how to make it sound exciting? AI’s got your back. Struggling to write an article that demonstrates your expertise without sounding like you’re bragging? AI to the rescue. It’s like hiring a ghostwriter who doesn’t need coffee breaks, but cheaper—and with less judgment.

AI can democratize LinkedIn. It gives everyone, from fresh grads to CEOs, a chance to sound professional. If you’re terrible at grammar or formatting, AI levels the playing field.

The Gray Zone

The real issue isn’t whether AI content is good or bad. It’s whether it’s authentic. Are we losing the imperfect charm of human posts in favor of machine-made perfection? Or is this just the next evolution of professional communication?

It’s a tough call. On one hand, AI can make LinkedIn posts feel like sterile corporate press releases. On the other hand, do we really need more posts that start with, “I never thought I’d share this, but here’s my life story”?

AI-written content on LinkedIn is like pineapple on pizza—some love it, some hate it, and some are just too confused to care. It’s efficient, polished, and occasionally brilliant. But it’s also a little… robotic and sounds fake.

So, the next time you scroll past a flawless post about someone’s “journey of resilience,” take a moment to think, is this the future of communication or just a fancy way to sound like a corporate chatbot? Either way, LinkedIn will keep getting swarmed with articles and posts, AI or not.

So then What do you think? We leave the decision to you.
