Kuriftu Resort and Kenyan Embassy Launch Two-Month Cultural event Celebrating Kenya in Ethiopia

Kuriftu Resort & Spa & the Kenyan Embassy launched Bringing Kenya to Ethiopia, a two-month cultural showcase celebrating Kenyan art, food, fashion, & heritage.
Kuriftu Resort & Spa, in partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya, officially launched a two-month cultural celebration under the theme “Bringing Kenya to Ethiopia.” Held at the renowned Kuriftu African Village, the event brought together ambassadors, dignitaries, media professionals, and cultural enthusiasts for an immersive experience into Kenya’s rich and diverse heritage. The celebration was inaugurated by Kenya’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, H.E. George Orina, marking the beginning of a Kenyan cultural takeover that mixes art, fashion, cuisine, music, and storytelling. All set against the backdrop of pan-African unity and collaboration.
After a warm welcome, the event commenced with an official briefing at the Kwame Nkrumah Hall, led by key figures including Ambassador George Orina, Mr. Tadiwos Belete (CEO of Kuriftu Resorts) and other invited government official. The briefing outlined the vision behind the collaboration: to create a living cultural exchange where guests could not only observe but also participate in the spirit of African unity.
Following the briefing, the Kenyan national anthem played as the Kenyan flag was raised, symbolizing the official start of the partnership. A ribbon-cutting ceremony soon followed, marking the formal opening of Kenyan culture, showing an initiative that will run for two months within the village grounds.
Guests were then guided through a tour of the African Village, transformed to reflect Kenya’s cultural identity. Traditional Kenyan huts were decorated with symbolic artifacts from handmade pottery and woven baskets to intricate beadwork and wood carvings. Every element spoke of craftsmanship, history, and storytelling passed down through generations.
The experience was designed not just to be seen but felt. The vibrant colors, textures, and rhythms invited guests to connect with Kenya’s culture through food, fashion, music, and meaningful dialogue. A guest Kenyan chef prepared authentic dishes that captured the essence of the country’s culinary heritage, while live performances and interactive displays offered glimpses into the traditions that make Kenya unique.
Ambassador Orina emphasized the deeper purpose of the event, stating, “It’s our business to promote Africa.” His message echoed through the day, aligning with Kuriftu’s broader mission to serve as a bridge for African culture, tourism, and economic opportunity.
The event also provided a platform for young Kenyan artists to engage with regional leaders and gain exposure to ideas of collaboration, identity, and growth.
Kuriftu Resort’s initiative to spotlight Kenya is just the beginning. The African Village plans to host similar events from other African nations, reinforcing its belief that celebrating each other’s cultures is key to unlocking the continent’s full potential. More than an event,
